1. About DealPilot
DealPilot is a UK-focused shopping discovery and comparison service. It helps users search for products, compare relevant options and continue to trusted retailer websites. DealPilot does not sell products or process retailer purchases.
2. Information we collect
When you use DealPilot we may collect and process:
- the search terms you enter;
- the delivery region you select;
- an anonymous session identifier generated in your browser and stored only for the duration of your browsing session;
- product and retailer interactions, such as which results you view and which retailer links you follow;
- technical and usage information logged for service monitoring, including a hashed identifier derived from your IP address (we do not store the raw IP address);
- if you contact us: the name, reply email address and message you provide, together with a contact submission identifier.
If you use the AI-assisted shopping guidance feature, the shopping information you enter (such as product type, budget, size or preferences) may be processed to interpret your request and ask clarifying questions.
We do not claim that session identifiers or search terms are fully anonymous where they can reasonably be linked to a person or device.
3. Why we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- perform product searches and display region-relevant results;
- maintain conversation context during a single browsing session;
- improve product matching and service reliability;
- prevent abuse and enforce rate limits;
- monitor usage and service faults;
- answer support, retailer or partnership enquiries;
- record affiliate clicks where you follow an affiliate link, so that activity can be attributed correctly.
4. Lawful basis
Where UK data-protection law applies, we rely on the following lawful bases for the processing activities described above:
- performing the product-search and comparison service you have requested;
- our legitimate interests in operating, protecting and improving DealPilot, including abuse prevention and service monitoring;
- responding to enquiries and taking requested steps before a possible purchase;
- where required for non-essential cookies or analytics, your consent.
Some legal-basis decisions may require further review depending on the final operating structure of the service. These are flagged for the owner or a legal adviser to confirm.
5. Contact form data
When you contact DealPilot, we collect the name, reply email address and message you provide. We use these details to review and respond to the enquiry. Contact submissions are stored securely and may generate an email notification to support@dealpilot.uk.
Database storage is the source of truth. If an email notification fails to deliver, your submission is still retained and may be reviewed.
6. AI-assisted features
DealPilot may use AI to interpret shopping requests, ask clarification questions and explain results. Product retrieval, classification and ranking remain controlled by DealPilot's structured matching, ranking and retailer-suitability policies and are not determined by the AI model.
The AI may process the shopping information you enter, such as product type, budget or preferences. You should not submit unnecessary sensitive or personal information through the shopping guidance feature. No AI-generated product is presented as a real result; products shown come from DealPilot's product-search pipeline.
AI processing is provided by Google Gemini, an external AI provider. The text of your shopping messages may be sent to Google for interpretation.
7. Affiliate tracking
Some retailer links are affiliate links. Clicking such a link may allow the retailer or affiliate network to attribute resulting activity to DealPilot. DealPilot may receive a commission from qualifying purchases or actions.
Commission does not control product ranking. Results are ranked using product relevance, match quality, budget considerations, retailer suitability and available pricing and delivery information. After you follow a link to a retailer, the retailer's and affiliate network's own privacy rules may apply.
See our Affiliate Disclosure for more detail.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
DealPilot uses the following browser storage and similar technologies:
- Session storage — used to remember your selected delivery region, search mode, last search query and a session identifier for the duration of your browsing session. This is cleared when you close your browser.
- Local storage — used only to retain an authentication token if you choose to sign in.
- Google Analytics 4 — we use GA4 to understand how the site is used, including page views, product views and affiliate-link clicks. GA4 may set its own cookies on your device. You can manage or disable GA4 through your browser settings or Google's opt-out tools.
GA4 is a non-essential analytics technology. Where consent is required for non-essential cookies under applicable law, that consent should be obtained before GA4 loads. The current implementation does not include a consent-management banner; this is flagged for the owner to review.
9. Data sharing
We may share information with the following categories of recipients:
- infrastructure and hosting providers that operate the DealPilot platform;
- AI-processing providers (Google Gemini) that interpret shopping requests;
- product-search providers (SerpAPI / Google Shopping) that retrieve retailer product data;
- affiliate networks and retailers, after you follow a link from DealPilot;
- email delivery services used to send contact-form notifications.
We do not claim that personal data is never shared where external processing is part of providing the service.
10. Retention
We retain information for as long as is reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose. Search-result caches have automated time-to-live expiry. Session context is held only for the duration of a browsing session.
Automated retention deletion is not currently implemented for analytics logs or contact submissions. A documented retention schedule should be established and is flagged for the owner to complete.
11. Security
DealPilot uses reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect stored information. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Individual rights
Subject to applicable UK data-protection law, you may request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of processing of, or objection to the processing of your personal data. You may also request portability of your data where applicable, and withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.
To make a request, contact support@dealpilot.uk. Identity verification may be required before we can fulfil a request.
13. Complaints
If you have a concern about how we handle your information, please contact support@dealpilot.uk first so we can try to resolve it.
You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). DealPilot does not prevent you from doing so.
14. Children
DealPilot is a general shopping service and is not intended to collect unnecessary information identifying children. Shopping requests may include an age or age group for product suitability, but you should not provide names, contact details or other identifying details about a child.
15. Contact
Questions or privacy requests can be sent to support@dealpilot.uk.
